DECEMBER 2024 LIVE CLASS SCHEDULE (5 GREAT CHOICES)

Due to popular demand we have added a few new live classes at DPAS. As always our live classes are month to month and fill up quickly so fill out a registration form TODAY!

DECEMBER CLASS SCHEDULE:

MASTERING SCENE STUDY – intermediate/advanced actors
Tuesday’s (approx 1 pm or 6 pm) Two waves. Students must be flexible.
Instructor: Deb Podowski
Cost: $345 per month for 4 weeks (includes tax) Start date: November 26th
This class is for late-teens to adults and is suited for intermediate/advanced actors.
Mastering Scene Study will change you as an actor no matter the level you are. Students must be dedicated and ready to work, respectful and all egos must be checked at the door!
How does one begin to create a character? Mastering Scene Study is based upon character development, intent, engaging your scene partners, taking ‘risks’ and focuses on substantiating everything said, every situation and every person referred to in the text”. Deb feels, “we are always coming from somewhere and going to somewhere”. Also, students will learn about the ’doings’ in the text and always being active. Incorporating these techniques will give your character a full body of life!
Deb Podowski’s classes are clearly outlined and specifically taught.
Students will be challenged and must be prepared to work and train hard. Students should be off book by week two. Most of Deb’s teachings are based on Uta Hagen’s techniques.

MASTERING SCENE STUDY – advanced actors only 
Wednesday’s (approx 1 pm or 6 pm) Two waves. Students must be flexible.
Instructor: Deb Podowski
Cost: $345 per month for 4 weeks (includes tax) Start date: November 20th
This class is for late-teens to adults and is suited for advanced actors only.
Mastering Scene Study advanced class is generally for actors that are series leads, or that regularly book guest-star and recurring roles. Students must be dedicated and ready to work, respectful and all egos must be checked at the door! The curriculum is quite challenging and students should be off book for week 1.
How does one begin to create a character? Mastering Scene Study is based upon character development, intent, engaging your scene partners, taking ‘risks’ and focuses on substantiating everything said, every situation and every person referred to in the text”. Deb feels, “we are always coming from somewhere and going to somewhere”. Also, students will learn about the ’doings’ in the text and always being active. ADVANCING THE AUDITION ON-CAMERA CLASS -intermediate and advanced actors-Saturday mornings 
Saturday’s 10 am – 1:30 pm 
Instructor: Deb Podowski
Cost: $345 per month for 4 weeks (includes tax) Start date: November 23rd
This class is for late-teens to adults. Intermediate and advanced actors are welcome. Must be dedicated and ready to work. 
This class is geared towards actors who want to work on their on-camera acting techniques:
• Filming your audition pieces (viewing and playing back your auditions with critiques)
• Audition-style prepared reads for television and film
• Surprise cold reads will be presented during the month
• Affecting through the camera lens, not at the camera lens
• Scene study and cold reading using: history, circumstances and intent
• Learn how to make interesting choices
• All sides used in class are pulled from major network tv and film projects, including those currently casting

BREAKING DOWN THE AUDITION ON-CAMERA CLASS-intermediate actors (and eager beginners)
Thursday’s 6 pm  
Instructor: Sachin Sahel
Cost: $320 per month for 4 weeks (includes tax) Start date: November 28th
This class is for late-teens to adults. Intermediate actors (eager beginners are welcome)
and is geared towards actors who want to get deeper into character development and strategic theory to break down the audition which will launch actors into stronger on-camera auditions.
• Filming your audition pieces (viewing and playing back your auditions with critiques)
• Audition-style prepared reads for television and film
• Working on reflexes with cold reads (using history and intent)
• Affecting through the camera lens, not at the camera lens
• Small class size with lots of personal attention and focus
• Learn how to make interesting choices (be specific!)
• All sides used in class are pulled from major network tv and film projects, including those currently casting

ACTING FOR FILM AND TELEVISION – for intermediate actors (and eager beginners)
Sunday’s 5pm 
Instructor: Kaaren de Zilva
Cost: $280 per month for 4 weeks (includes tax) Start date: December 1st
This class is for intermediate actors as well as keen beginners and builds and strengthens the foundation of acting through technique and creativity. Delving into the material to find the highest stakes and deepest layers. Kaaren’s philosophy of teaching is based on a nurturing and empowering approach toward her students. From them she expects a high level of discipline, focus, commitment and integrity. “Let’s create together”.
• 1st Class – Cold reading of the scene and script analysis
• 2nd Class – Run scene and determine actions
• 3rd Class – Run scene with adjustments
• 4th Class – Final run of the scene
