COVID-19 AND STUDIO PROTOCOL

  • Screening – You will be required to fill out our COVID-19 Waiver form and bring it with you. It will be emailed to you prior to your first class (read it, print it out, sign it and BRING IT)
  • Smaller class sizes
  • Make a best effort to maintain a physical distance of at least 6 feet at all times
  • All scenes are picked out with social distancing in mind
  • You can enter the Studio a maximum 10 minutes before your class start time
  • A protective face mask must be worn in the Studio
  • All students must hand sanitize when entering and exiting (there are at least 5 hand sanitizer stations set up throughout the Studio)
  • You must enter and exit the Studio in a clockwise fashion. Directional arrows are set up on the floor, like at local grocery stores.
  • Common touch areas will be cleaned every hour or less
  • It is encouraged to avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with your hands while at the Studio

(ONLINE) ADVANCING THE AUDITION (Thursday evenings)
START DATE: Thursday, September 30th at 6 pm / $245
  • Beyond the basic techniques of the ‘audition’ and working your audition piece from a current tv show or film for the entire month
  • Refreshing your techniques; breaking down audition scenes, history, circumstances & intent 
  • Expanding on the current climate with online auditions, Skype/Zoom call backs and Skype/Zoom chemistry reads, which has become more prevalent even before the pandemic
  • How to get the most out of our online auditions & how to use your space in the audition
  • Affecting through the lens not at the lens
  • Use tools to stay private in the room; making interesting choices
  • Understanding that the audition is simply another place to act and enjoy
(ONLINE) FUNDAMENTALS OF ACTING FOR BEGINNERS (Saturday mornings)
START DATE: Saturday, September 18th at 10am / $285
  • Back to basics and breaking down the fundamental aspects of a scene/script
  • Understanding circumstances and breaking down beats
  • Making strong choices, using intent and getting specific
  • Working on a scene throughout the month and performing it the final two weeks
(LIVE) GETTING SPECIFIC WITH SCENE STUDY (Tuesday’s) 
START DATE: Tuesday, August 31th at 2:30 pm & 6:30 pm  (2 waves times) $285

(ONLINE) CHALLENGING THE ACTOR INTENSIVE SERIES 1 (3 series in total) 
START DATE: NEXT CLASS OPENING WILL BE IN MID-NOVEMBER / Saturday mornings (Get on the waitlist) $285
  • We will delve into the actor’s techniques & human techniques while understanding how to use yourself as an instrument
  • Each week we dive into exercises that will avoid us from getting trapped in externals, physical self-consciousness, mechanical reactions, anticipation of a particular response, pushing for emotion and more by exploring human behaviour under a variety of circumstances
  • Each week exercises will be given out and discussed with a performance given each week
  • There are no scripts to memorize!

For beginners *(This class is temporarily online)                                                       
This class builds and strengthens the foundation of acting through technique and creativity. Delving into the material to find the highest stakes and deepest layers. Kaaren’s philosophy of teaching is based on a nurturing and empowering approach toward her students. From them she expects a high level of discipline, focus, commitment and integrity. “Let’s create together”.
• 1st Class – Cold reading of the scene and script analysis
• 2nd Class – Run scene and determine actions
• 3rd Class – Run scene with adjustments
• 4th Class – Final run of the scene
 
Cost: $180 per month for 4 weeks (includes tax)
