About Deb Podowski

A professional actor for over 35 years, Deb has had the opportunity to be trained by some of the best acting teachers in North America. Calling Los Angeles home for almost a decade, amongst the many projects she booked while living in L.A, Deb is most proud of her recurring roles on the NBC hit series, E.R and the Fox sitcom, Titus. During her nine successful years in Los Angeles, Deb trained with the likes of Howard Fine, Larry Moss and at the famed Beverly Hills Playhouse.

For the past 15 years, with this experience in hand and moving back to her hometown of Vancouver, she began teaching acting classes and engaging in private coachings, and filming self-tapes for youth and adult actors as well as prepping them for auditions. The film and television industry in Vancouver is as robust as ever and the audition process is highly competitive. Deb feels prepping an actor for an audition and/or providing a strong self-tape in her infamous Blue Room can give the actor “an edge on the competition.” A solid foundation is also a key to success in this competitive industry and immersing ones self with other like minded actors in a class setting is an essential part of the process. Her highly popular classes: ‘Mastering Scene Study’ and ‘Advancing the Audition’ both have ambitious themes to them. Deb feels; “Like a top level athlete who must train hard daily, an actor’s path should be no different!”

Deb Podowski Acting Studio (DPAS) is one of the endeavours she is most proud of. Deb wants to give back to the acting community by teaching with integrity, grace and simplicity. Her energy for her students is relentless and she explains, “It is my hope that my energy and my work ethic rubs off on my students. This I feel, is my greatest gift to those actors that want to put in the work.” Deb’s motto “be better’ is ingrained in her teachings.

Deb’s strong relationships with many of the city’s top agents, directors and casting directors is a testimony to her relentless work with her students. CAA, Anonymous Content ABC’s Freeform and Brave New Artists also have excellent working relationships with Deb.

Deb is very pleased to see that many of her students have become successful working actors on local, national and international television shows and movies.

In her leisure time, Deb and her husband Keith love to walk their two rescue dogs, Gilly and Bear.
